Dr. Ian Smith Reveals The Advantage at Parker Seminars

Dr. Ian Smith presents during Parker Seminars
October 7, 2009 (Dallas) — Dr. Ian Smith, well-known for VH1’s Celebrity Fit Club and The 50 Million Pound Challenge, was one of the featured speakers during the Whole Body Health and Wellness Seminar and Fair at the Parker Seminar in Dallas, TX.
Dr. Smith gave the audience insight into what he calls “The Advantage,” which is when each individual takes control of his or her personal health, makes small changes to assist in preventing or controlling diseases that cut life short, and makes healthy choices in order to reach the goals of a longer, happier, and easier life.
Dr. Smith advised the audience to ask themselves, “What kind of fuel am I putting into the greatest machine ever?” Dr. Smith provided tips to use in order to obtain a better quality of life including eating enough colorful food, putting in 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise a day, watching your glycemic index, and exercising your mind.
Dr. Smith believes there is no division between different doctors, just different things that work for each patient. “We can collectively improve the patient experience,” said Dr. Smith.
He advised health care professionals to learn more about their patients and how they are living before they conclude what they need. When he gets a new patient, he first tries to find out where the person is mentally. “Are our patients happy?” asked Dr. Smith. “Their happiness integrates so much into their physical being.”
He also suggested them to ask the patient a series of questions: Do they eat well? Do they exercise? Do they find time to relax? Do they take care of themselves?
He told them to find a way to connect with each patient. “It’s not about treating the complaint, but treating the whole person,” said Dr. Smith.
He explained that doctors have a unique opportunity to give people hope. “A lot of people don’t believe they have a chance,” said Dr. Smith. “Empower them and give your patients hope about life.”
Dr. Smith has a great deal of passion for helping others achieve their goals. He believes people’s legacy is what they leave and give to others. “At the end of the day, I want to be noted because people would say that I made a difference in their lives,” said Dr. Smith.
“We are all passionate about helping others,” said Dr. Smith. “I could deliver something to them. There was nothing more powerful to me than another human blindly trusting me because I was in this profession. That’s why I got into this.”
“He is doing something tremendous to impact the world,” said Dr. Fabrizio Mancini, president of Parker College of Chiropractic and Parker Seminars.
