Parker College: Press Release

Parker College of Chiropractic Continues to Shape Legislation as it Relates to Chiropractic

December 7, 2009 (Dallas) — Parker College of Chiropractic continues to be in the forefront of the national health care reform as Dr. Fabrizio Mancini, president of Parker College of Chiropractic, actively participates in gatherings and discussions. Dr. Mancini recently attended an event held by the American Jewish Committee awarding Texas State Representative Rafael Anchia. The American Jewish Committee presented Representative Anchia with the Institute of Human Relations Award, an annual award presented to a civic or business leader who has demonstrated exceptional work in the area of preserving America’s democratic heritage.

“It is important for us to support the country and the representatives that work so hard to make decisions and put the best plans together for the nation,” said Dr. Fabrizio Mancini, president of Parker College of Chiropractic.

Dr. Mancini attended the award presentation to show Parker College’s support for Representative Anchia. While he was there he had the opportunity to speak with additional Texas Representatives about the national health care reform debate. Dr. Mancini explained that Parker has joined other organizations in urging the call to action to represent chiropractic in health care reform.

“We also need to remember to communicate the value of chiropractic to the leaders of these decisions,” said Dr. Mancini. “Chiropractic is a necessity and its inclusion in health care reform is vital.”

All chiropractors are encouraged to get involved to ensure that their interests and those of their patients are fully protected in any final legislation to emerge from Congress. Contact members of Congress to guarantee that essential services delivered by a doctor of chiropractic are included as a covered benefit under any national reform plan, that all plans allow for full direct access to the providers and health care pathways of their choice, and that any attempt to impose an MD-referral requirement for patients to obtain access to chiropractic care is defeated.

Representative Anchia has been an advocate for legislation to fight crime, improve public safety, protect our environment, and improve health coverage for women and children. He was elected in November 2004 as the representative of House District 103 in the Texas House of Representatives. In the 81st Legislative Session, he serves as Vice-Chair of the Pensions, Investments, and Financial Services Committee, and continues to service on the Elections and Local Consent Calendars Committee.

Representative Anchia has been honored with several awards throughout the years, including the Rising Star Award from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas and Man of the Year Award from the League of United Latin American Citizens.
