Medical Massage - Advanced Training Certificate Program
Parker School of Massage Therapy is proud to announce the inaugural class for our Medical Massage Program! Parker's goal is to provide the highest quality instructional Medical Massage Program available today. We are committed to raising the educational standards of massage therapy by providing our students with a strong foundation of knowledge regarding safe, effective, and appropriate medical massage techniques. This ensures that the students enrolled in our program become empowered and self-confident while mastering the techniques necessary to become effective Medical Massage Therapists.
The Medical Massage Program is 300 total hours consisting of 260 classroom hours and a 40 hour internship. Time spent with local organizations during the internship will allow the students to experience the versatility of this career as well as the many opportunities that will become available to them after completion of the program. Upon graduation, the students will be able to confidently conduct a thorough initial and on-going massage assessment for each client to ensure safety and to individualize the massage session to meet their clients' needs.
Medical Massage Classes Include:
- Clinical Pathology and Related Anatomy (72 hours)
- Pharmacology & Toxicology (20 hours)
- Advanced Therapeutic Techniques (100 hours in Hospital Based Massage, Visceral Massage, Lymphatic Drainage, Geriatric Massage, Prenatal/Infant Massage)
- Clinical Charting, Medical Billing, and Medical Terminology (8 hours)
- Biochemistry & Laboratory Diagnostics (20 hours)
- Clinical Orthopedics (20 hours)
- Psychology & Neuroanatomy (20 hours)
- 40 hour internship
Medical Massage Schedule
The Medical Massage Program meets 10 hours each week for eight months (two trimesters).Â
Trimester One
- Tuesday, 8:30am - 11:30am
- Thursday, 8:30am - 11:30am
- Friday, 8:30am - 12:30am
Trimester Two
- Tuesday, 1:30pm - 4:30pm
- Thursday, 1:30pm - 4:30pm
- Friday, 1:30pm - 5:30pm

Classes start three times per year - September, January, and May. The next class start date is January 11, 2010.
Apply early as there are a limited number of seats available.Â
Medical Massage Prerequisites:
- An active massage therapy license in good standing
- At least 50 combined hours of advanced therapeutic modality (TPT, NMT, MFR, DT, ART, etc.)
- Or Parker College School of Massage Therapy Massage Therapy Certificate (600-hour program graduate).
- Current Massage Therapy Insurance
- Current CPR Certification
- Two letters of recommendation (one letter needs to be provided by a professor/instructor, employer, or client)

Classes may be taken on a part-time basis at the rate of $20 per credit hour plus additional applicable fees.Â
There may be additional fees for criminal background checks. This is dependent on requirements of internship placement.
*The matriculation fee is required in order to secure your seat in the program and will be applied towards tuition.Â
