Shuttle Service at the Games: Motor Coach will pick up student-athletes at all approved hotels and take them to all venues (including the beach) at NO charge.
Financial Deadlines: For team and individual registrations (as well as hotel deposits) will be strictly enforced this year.
Metal Spikes: There will be NO metal spiked shoes allowed in any sport this year (softball, football, soccer, etc.).
Uniforms: Every team must have both a light and dark colored jersey. Men’s soccer, women’s soccer, men’s basketball, women’s basketball and softball must also have uniform numbers on the jerseys (prefer both front and back, but must have number on back).
Conduct: Competitors ejected from a contest will be suspended for the team’s next contest. Any violation that includes fighting or punching will result in the immediate dismissal of the individual(s) for the remainder of the 2008 Chiro Games.
Faculty/Staff Representation: Chiro Games by-laws state that each team must bring a member of the school’s faculty or staff to represent the team.
Change in the 2008 Chiro Games Swim Competition (September 19-20)
Individuals can compete in just four individual events (as well as all relays); Team points will be awarded to top six places (rather than just top three) with points 8, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1; Team points will be awarded to just top three teams of relay events (granting more weight to relays than individual events). The swimming event will continue to feature a practice day on Friday afternoon (time TBA) and the championships on Saturday afternoon (time TBA).
Notes: The Chiro Games Board of Directors (Ron, Tony, Emily and Steve) introduced a new concept for the Chiro Games last year--a neutral site. As such, the Treasure Coast Sports Commission has partnered with us to provide much of the necessary legwork to pull this off. Between the two organizations, a lot of the groundwork has already been completed. It is the board’s goal that from the time you land in Florida, until you’re back on your campus, you will join us in believing that the Chiro Games gets better every year.
Additional Information: Please feel free to contact Ron O’Brien (Palmer), Emily Tweed (Northwestern), Tony Petroccia (New York) or myself if you have any questions.
